Scraphunter's Star 1 & 2

Quilt designer Evelyn George has created “Scraphunter’s Star” and “Scraphunter’s Star2” (with Dorothy Lee) for Quilt for a Cause, Inc.

They are rotary cut, scrappy interpretations of the traditional Hunter’s Star with no templates or Y seams. The patterns are especially designed for fat quarters, which are stacked and cut into just squares and rectangles. Quick piecing methods are used to make the star points.

Evelyn‘s clear instructions are fully illustrated and easy to follow. Each pattern includes 5 quilt sizes, from lap to king, with 20 full color layouts. There are 40 interchangeable layout possibilities with the purchase of both patterns. However, directions are not interchangeable, because the two different types of star points take different yardage requirements and instructions. So choose your favorite look ….. scrappy light/dark or single colored stars….or try both.

All proceeds for the patterns go to Quilt for a Cause, Inc., a 501c3 nonprofit organization which uses handmade quilts and quilt related activities as a vehicle to fund research for breast and/or gynecological cancers, and to raise awareness in women for prevention and detection of breast and/or gynecological cancer.

Purchase by mail: Patterns are available by mail for $10 plus postage. Contact Dorothy Lee (info@quiltforacause.org) to make the purchase.

Also sold at: Catalina Quilting, The Quilter’s Market, Cactus Quilt Shop, and Quilter’s Desert Patch (Sahuarita). Kits are available from Catalina Quilting.

Special thanks to the following individuals whose generosity has made it possible to produce these patterns for the benefit of Quilt for a Cause: Calamity Jain Designs, for pattern layout and design; John Sartin, for cover photography; and Donna Mitchell of Thread Technologies, for longarm quilting.
