The 2016 Auction raised $105,000 which was fully distributed by January 2017.  Quilt For a Cause board members were delighted to participate in the January 12, 2017 celebration for the opening of the Joel M. Childers, M. D. Women’s Center at Tucson Medical Center (TMC).

March took QFaC to the Hummingbird Stitchers Quilt Show in Sierra Vista.  QFaC Friend and Supporter Diane Bach staffed the booth.

In April, QFaC participated in several events in partnership with the Arizona Oncology Foundation.  The raffle of the lovely quilt Time Is of the Essence raised money for AOF.

Further donations were made to St. Elizabeth’s Health Center and Arizona Oncology Foundation in June.  In August, we said good-bye to dear friend and Quilt For a Cause co-founder, Jeannie Coleman.  Jeannie conceived the idea of Quilt For a Cause after she survived breast cancer and wanted to help other women in the same situation.  She and Carol Zupancic started our organization in 2003.  While saying that final good-bye is sad, we, Board members past and present, can never fully express the joy Jeannie gave cancer patients and quilters alike with her courageous ideas and generous heart.

On November 17, 2017 St. Elizabeth’s Health Center celebrated 56 years of providing health services for the uninsured and underserved in the Tucson area.  QFaC celebrated with them as St. Elizabeth’s honored our group with a nomination for the Spirit of Philanthropy award at the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon.  Thank you, St. Elizabeth’s!

In the twelve months prior to December 2017, Quilt For a Cause donated $115,415 to organizations that help those fighting breast and women’s cancers.  Quilt For a Cause is a 501(c)(3) organization consisting entirely of volunteers.  We work in the Tucson area and are reaching out through partnerships to other areas of Arizona.  New volunteers and venues are always welcome.  See the ribbon above for contact and donation information.

We extend our thanks to all the quilters and organizations who have donated their time, talents and quilts throughout the year.  This year, we especially want to say thank you to Lynda Luiten of Quilters Market in Tucson for her generous and continuous support.

To all, we say Happy Holidays and may 2018 bring you health and happiness living well and helping others.
