Christmas in July 2018

Christmas in July!

Christmas in July, a Quilt For A Cause exhibition, is at Tucson Botanical Gardens through the end of the month.  Quilts in Porter Hall feature Christmas and holiday themes.  Do you need a lovely holiday table topper or a seasonal bed quilt for your holiday guests?  A Christmas-y wall hanging adds to the holiday décor and spirit.  Cool your Tucson summer and enjoy a bit of Christmas in July.  Take home a quilt that touches your heart.  All purchases at the Gardens are handled through the Gardens’ Gift Shop.

June 30th completed Quilt For A Cause’s fifteenth year raising funds through sales of handmade quilts to help in the fight against breast and gynecologic cancers.  This year, our organization was able to donate $55,000 to organizations involved in this cause.  Recipients are:  El Rio Health Center, Arizona Oncology Foundation, St. Elizabeth’s Health Center, TMC Foundation, Tucson Cancer Conquerors, National Ovarian Cancer Coalition-Tucson Chapte) and BAG IT!  QFaC was delighted to introduce representatives from these organizations and present checks at the opening of the Christmas in July exhibition on June 28th.

Our thanks and appreciation go to all the quilters from Arizona and beyond (we received a quilt donation from England recently!) who make and donate the quilts we sell.  Without your desire to help others with your spectacular talent, QFaC could not do its good work!  Thank you.  Thank you, also, to those who open their homes and businesses to support us and help us display and sell quilts.  And, of course, our quilt buyers are invaluable!  Quilt For a Cause is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization from which 95% of all funds collected are given to the agencies actively involved in helping those fighting breast and/or gynecologic cancers.   Thank you all.  We look forward to continuing to “Sew a Cure for Cancer.”

Mauricette Montredon, St. Elizabeth’s CEO and Carmen Noriega, Development, accept the donation to St. Elizabeth’s from QFaC President Terry Gallegos.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Quilts on every wall!

And Christmas comes in many colors! Enjoy!

Don’t forget – Delft Duet, QFaC’s summer raffle quilt is in the Gardens Gift Shop with more quilts, patterns and boutique items.  Tickets are available below and at the Gift Shop.  The winning ticket will be drawn on July 29th at 4:00 p.m. at the Tucson Botanical Gardens.  The winner need not be present to win.
