Like the hand-sewn group quilts of old, the work of Quilt for a Cause depends on the skills and generosity of many. We are ever grateful to the hundreds of quilters who donate their time and talent and fabric to the mission of Quilt for a Cause.
This month, however, we celebrate our “retail” partners, the imaging and medical facilities throughout greater Tucson, who display our beautiful quilts and whose walls have become an integral part of our efforts to raise money for the diagnosis and treatment of breast and gynecologic cancers through the sale of quilts. Simply put, quilts sell better when people can see and touch them directly.
Arizona Oncology (www.arizonaoncology.com), with eight locations in Tucson, is one of the largest cancer center groups in Arizona offering a wide range of medical, imaging, and patient support services.
Arizona Oncology Foundation Resource Center (www.arizonaoncologyfoundation.org), whose apt motto is “Because together is always better!”, provides supportive services to the patients, family members, and caregivers whose lives are touched by cancer. In addition to hosting support groups for all kinds of cancers, the centers offer Integrative Therapies such as massage, reflexology, and acupuncture as well as educational classes, dental services and is a source for wigs, head coverings, breast prosthetics and other post-mastectomy items.
Radiology Limited (www.radltd.com), with eight Tucson locations is our very own “hometown radiology practice” offering more than 35 subspecialized, fellowship-trained experts in body imaging, women’s imaging, interventional radiology, molecular imaging, musculoskeletal imaging, and neuroradiology.
We are extremely grateful to the administrative and medical staff of these excellent organizations both for the care they provide to cancer patients and family members and for their gracious hosting of our beautiful quilts on the walls of their facilities.
The sale of quilts at these offices greatly extends our ability to contribute to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer for Tucson residents, especially for those whose resources may be limited.
